FC Dallas have bolstered in the middle of the park with the addition of a Monagas midfielder from the Venezuelan first division.
The club released an official statement regarding the transfer just moments ago. It goes as follow:
“FRISCO – FC Dallas has signed Venezuelan midfielder Luis Gonzalez, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa.”
The 26-year-old made the move to Major League Soccer after having made 185 appearances in Venezuela with a number of different clubs. Gonzalez attracted interest from FC Dallas after scoring 17 goals in 45 appearances for Monagas. In that time span, the midfielder also made three appearances for the Venezuelan national team.
While Gonzalez is technically classified as a midfielder, his ability to find the back of the net is what separates him from the rest. Already flying high in the Western Conference, Gonzalez will go a long way in reaffirming FC Dallas’ playoff aspirations. The side currently sit three points back of first in third place, however, they have two games in hand on their counterparts.
FC Dallas’ next game is on August 12th against Sporting Kansas City and it remains to be seen if Gonzalez will play a part, depending on the receipt of his transfer certificate.
